Stay Away
I created a playlist for Stay Away, a screenplay I’m currently writing.
These are songs that appear inside the script — records playing in rooms, music heard in passing, fragments that belong to the world of the story. The playlist also helps me while writing: setting the atmosphere, finding the rhythm of scenes, and keeping the emotional temperature of the project consistent.
The story is partly set in Rome, in 1978, and the music follows that thread: Italian pop, Lebanese music, American records, late-70s textures, and a few songs that somehow found their way into the characters’ orbit.
There’s Lucio Battisti, Umberto Tozzi, Ziad Rahbani, Prince, Fleetwood Mac, Dolly Parton, and a few stranger turns along the way.
Some tracks are direct cues. Others are part of the air around the scenes.
